What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global movement of generosity that encourages people to do good. Celebrated on the Tuesday following the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, this special day kicks off the charitable season when many focus on holiday and end-of-year giving. This year, Giving Tuesday is December 2nd – just two days before the 8th anniversary of The Sophia Code Foundation!
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that inspires people to give back in whatever ways they can. Over the past decade, this idea has grown into a global movement that has inspired hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
On this day, individuals and organizations around the world rally their communities to support the causes they care about. Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering time, or spreading awareness, Giving Tuesday empowers people to take action and make a positive difference.
While giving is important every day, Giving Tuesday serves as a powerful reminder of the impact we can create when we come together in the spirit of generosity.
